[The feed comes on to show Apollo in scrubs behind the front desk of the Azalea PokéCenter. It's been a slow day and he hasn't had very much to do besides stand there and think about the problem that the rain is hammering home. He hates to admit it, but it looks like he's stuck having to ask other humans for help on this one.]

Does anyone know how to build a shelter that's good for all the seasons? Ilex Forest isn't mountainous enough to have caves. I was thinking that digging some kind of burrow in a hill would work, but I don't know how to make a roof that would stay up and water wouldn't come through. I know there are mountains here, but do any of them have forests near them? If there's one like that it would be easier to just find a cave there than build a shelter.

Most of the humans I've seen do.

I learn things all the time without reading. You just have to pay attention to everything around you.

I'm using it right now just fine. [Though Danny had to show him how to use the map function and tell him what all the names on it were. And he still doesn't know how to get it to read text posts or Pokédex entries out loud, which would be helpful. Or really, anything other than the video function, and that only because his Spearow happened to know.

Because his life up until now has shown him that he can do everything he wants or needs to do without needing to be able to read? ...It feels weird to write a defense of remaining illiterate...]

I dry the meat. Or smoke it. If it's a really cold winter I can just leave it out somewhere where animals can't get it and it doesn't go bad.

I don't know anything about Kanto. I'm going to look at Mt. Mortar after I've gotten some more money here. I don't know if it has forests, but there's supposed to be a big lake next to it, so maybe there will be a good spot there. If there isn't I'll try looking at Mt. Moon.

And how many is that? Just because the few people you've met have been people who've littered doesn't mean anything. There are a lot of people in the world!

We have special appliances that keep food cold or freeze it depending on where you put it. That way food stays fresh longer and we don't have to worry about food going bad quite so much anymore.

Lots of animals do that if you enter their territory. They're just protecting themselves. If you're stupid enough to get close without watching to see if they're okay with it you deserve to get attacked.

If I see something new then I'll watch and try to learn about it. Unless I think I'm going to see something there's no point in learning about it.

Those would be useful, but Grandpa didn't have any of those, so we had to keep food from going bad a different way.

If a tree falls in the forest, the other trees will know. The only way a tree can fall without anyone knowing is if it's on its own and there aren't any plants or animals anywhere near it.

Knowing isn't the same as hearing.

No, but hearing isn't the only way to know if something's happening. And there are more important things to worry about than a tree falling if there ever isn't anyone in the forest to hear it fall.

I mean you could send them the money through a Pokemon that can travel and they can buy it for you. Why would you travel to a city that you do not wish to visit for such an item when someone might be able to do a favor?

Deerling's Grass and Normal type, but he doesn't like being out in the rain. It must be different for different Pokémon.

I don't try to catch Pokémon. I just let whichever ones want to come with me come along and leave the others where they are.

Well, even if you choose not to, there are alternative ways to acquiring Pokemon. Many that come from eggs tend to be loyal and adapt to their trainer's needs.

It's not right to take them from their homes just because you feel like it. They have their own lives already. If they really want to come with you they'll do it on their own. Don't force them.

If whatever hatches can survive away from its mother right away I guess that's okay. It still seems mean though.

Your words are sensible and respectable, yet you will find yourself in a small percentage of those who think in that manner. As for me, I try to offer them to come home with me.

Mean..? [ This man's own take on the world of Johto was strange to her. ] It creates a stronger bond between trainer and Pokemon if they are hatched in their care. I suppose in that sense the trainer falls into the mother role.

They should be looked after by their parents if that's what their kind normally does. Humans don't need to get involved unless their parents aren't able to look after them.
