[The feed comes on to show Apollo in scrubs behind the front desk of the Azalea PokéCenter. It's been a slow day and he hasn't had very much to do besides stand there and think about the problem that the rain is hammering home. He hates to admit it, but it looks like he's stuck having to ask other humans for help on this one.]

Does anyone know how to build a shelter that's good for all the seasons? Ilex Forest isn't mountainous enough to have caves. I was thinking that digging some kind of burrow in a hill would work, but I don't know how to make a roof that would stay up and water wouldn't come through. I know there are mountains here, but do any of them have forests near them? If there's one like that it would be easier to just find a cave there than build a shelter.

[ makoto is still new here, so she doesn't know much about johto... so she figures she might as well ask the first question to come to mind. ]

Why do you need a shelter?

I am afraid I cannot answer that question, but is there a reason you are inquiring about it? Do you intend to travel through the area with the weather like so?

You can make a tent with a length of canvas.

...can't you just stay in a building?

If you're making something more permanent, use thatch for the roof.

But... at least when the weather's bad, you should go indoors. You might get sick.

Dry straw or reeds, in layers to keep the rain off. You want to live out of doors and aren't even that familiar with how to make your own shelter?

...did you really live in a cave back home?

[ hm... ]

Are you... are you from dinosaur times? [ that'd actually be kinda cool now that she thinks about it. ]
lightningbearer: (considering it)

Then you've been fortunate only to have lived in places with natural shelters.

[ disappointing... ]

Oh... then you just live out there because you like it better?

[ this is pretty hard for her to comprehend. ]
lightningbearer: (something to say)

Uh, well, there's a lot of good stuff in towns. Like... like people! [ that's a plus, right?

maybe there are people in the forest too, but she imagines there must be significantly less. ]

I haven't seen that forest yet.
