[The feed comes on to show a full-body view of Apollo, which doesn't really say much, since his green cloak covers everything except his head, bare feet, and his right arm holding a pokéball. The camera wobbles a bit, since this is Sentret's first time as cameramon.]

John, I thought you would want to know that the egg I got from you hatched. Is it normal for Pokémon to hatch bigger than the egg? I don't understand how it could have fit inside.

[He opens the pokéball to release a Golett. A Golett that's significantly larger than usual, at about 4'9". This also shows that Apollo himself is fairly short, at 5 feet and a few inches at best. The Golett glances around, spies the Sentret and the Deerling behind the camera, and proceeds to try and hide behind Apollo. After a moment of this it realizes how badly it's failing at remaining unseen and it reaches around Apollo to grab onto the pokéball and return inside. Apollo linefaces slightly. He hates keeping his Pokémon in their balls, but Golett won't stay out for long.]

It's really shy.

[He lowers his arm and the edge of his cloak slips down and covers it again. He glances up at the sky.]

The other thing I was going to say is that Spearow "evolved" today. [Apollo is suddenly in shadow.] He looks like he would be big enough to carry me, but when I tried he couldn't get off the ground. I know you need the "Surf" HM if you want to ride a Pokémon over the water. Is there one that lets you ride them in the air?

[The camera wobbles as a strong wind comes from above, and the cameramon points it up at the source of the wind. Remember that larger than average Spearow Apollo had? It turned into a much larger than average Fearow that is now coming in for a landing.]

FEEEEAAAAR!

[Comparing that cry to the screams of the damned in Hell wouldn't be far off. I hope you weren't planning on sleeping tonight.]

He doesn't like the ball, though. Blitz, too, though he's more cautious that really shy. Have you tried introducing him to one of your calmer Pokémon?

It doesn't seem to be male or female. I don't think this kind of Pokémon has genders.

Sentret's the calmest, but all of the Pokémon who travel with me were there when it hatched, so it's met them all already. [Opening its eyes for the first time to see a giant Fearow looming over it probably didn't help the situation though...]

Yeah, but it seems wrong to call something alive an it.

[Hmm]

Maybe get your Sentret and the baby alone together, see if he adjusts?

It does, but I don't know what else to call it, since "he" and "she" aren't right either.

You think that not being around all of them at once would be better in the beginning?

Yeah, less might be more in this case. And maybe you can ask the baby what he wants to be called.

I'll have to wait until it stays out of the ball for long enough to talk. It still won't be able to tell me human words if I ask it, though.

Do you have a Psychic Pokémon?

That's one of those "Types" I've heard about, right? None of the ones with me are Psychic, and I can't use human words when I'm talking with animals either.

Darn. If Ty wasn't so shy and yours wasn't so shy, I'd offer to help you with that. Psychics can talk in your head, so there's no real need for words.

Telepathy, right? I can do that, but only with pictures and ideas and feelings, not human words. If those Solosis were still around I would ask one of them to help. They were fun to talk to. It was really easy to hear their voices in my head. It was kind of like how Entei was, only they stayed around and talked.

Maybe you could try that with your baby?

I can't talk to Pokémon when they're inside eggs or balls, so I'll have to try once it will stay out for a while. I'll try having only Sentret around when I let it out and see if that helps.

[It compensates for Apollo being ~~so short~~ still growing. Seriously, the only person in the main cast he's taller than is the girl in the wheelchair. I just wish I could find a canon height for him instead of having to guess.]

Yeah. [He smiles up at the giant Fearow head peeking down into the feed. Now that there's something to compare sizes, Fearow doesn't look quite as big, but there's still no question that he's much bigger than normal.] But he still can't seem to carry much. He has a hard time flying with just Sentret riding him.

If he just evolved, maybe he's not used to those huge wings yet.

He can fly really far and high already though. Maybe this is like what I've heard about with riding a Pokémon over water, where you need one of those HM things before you can.

Huh... maybe. You'd think they'd be okay to carry other Pokemon at least...

Mine just refused to let me fly on 'em until I got the badge.

Maybe it's different for every one.

Badge? Wasn't that something to do with the gyms?

Yeah.

Sometimes they won't let you do some stuff till you have the badge.

That's another weird thing about this world I guess. I don't want to try and beat the gyms, though, so I guess I won't... What?

[The last is directed at Fearow, who is sudden staaaaaaring at Apollo. They begin a completely silent discussion, which Heather will hear none of, since the Gears don't transmit telepathy.]

Dunno. Guess you're outta luck or- ... something...

[Apollo looks back at the camera after a moment.]

I don't know why anyone would want to have a staring contest. We're talking. Spearow wants me to try and beat the gym. I told him I don't want to.

[By the vaguely distracted and annoyed look on Apollo's face, it's obvious that Fearow (Apollo doesn't know what the evolved form's name is) is still "talking" to him. Loudly.]

[Heather has legitimately never heard of the Poke-telepathy that psychics experience when they come to Johto. So to her eyes?]

[Apollo looks like a stark raving loony.]}

... Yeah, I'll just, uh.

[Don't worry Heather, that's the initial reaction he gets in his canon. From other people with powers. Because apparently telekinesis is normal, but talking to plants and animals is weird.]

[He has the feeling he's missing something in her reaction, but Fearow is being too distracting in his head for him to think about it much.]

Maybe there's a HM called "Flight".

[ It sounds logical. ]

I got the "Cut" HM from an old man named Kurt in Azalea Town, but he said that all of the other HMs only came from beating the gyms. I don't know what HMs the different gyms give out though.

I don't know either, but maybe Saber does. She's beaten a gym leader recently, so she must have an idea of how things go.

I've never talked to her. [Or rather, he's talked to the other Saber but hasn't heard her name.] Ask her what HMs the gyms give.

I'll ask her at the next chance I get. I promise.

Awww, someone's a little shy, huh? Don't worry though, that's just...one of those really weird Pokemon things that's actually totally normal. Just like the fact that you can't fly or surf on a pokemon big enough to carry you without a magic machine.

Jeez though, are you feeding your Pokemon something special to make them grow so big? [He laughs a little. He knows full well that there's quite a bit of size variation among Pokemon but he couldn't resis making a joke.]

There are a lot of weird things here. The only other egg I saw hatching here hatched into something that could have fit inside it.

So there is an HM that lets you ride a Pokémon in the air? Where do you get it?

Yeah, you get used to it though. The quicker you stop trying to make sense of everything weird, the better you'll feel.

The HM you're looking for is Fly, and you get it for beating Chuck, the leader of Cianwood Gym. But in order to use it outside of battle, you need the Zephyr Badge from Violet City.

Ah...well not exactly. Here... [He takes a ball from his belt and releases Giant...who is actually not as much of a giant as his name would lead you to believe. He's only about 3'5" or so. John himself is around Apollo's height, and the height difference between John and his golem is much more pronounced.] See?

Do you usually need something from another town to use an HM? I got the Cut HM from Kurt and Sentret's been using it to cut up firewood for me, but I didn't have to do anything other than work for him for a while to get it. [He's a Breeder.]

[He nods slightly.] The one with you is a lot smaller. What kind of Pokémon are they?

[Honestly, I guessed his height. I can't find any official numbers, so all I know is that he's shorter than everyone else in the main cast except the girl in the wheelchair. It's entirely possible he hasn't even hit five feet. I'm terrible at estimating height. -_-;]

Err...yeah, usually. But I guess if you could use it then that means you're a breeder. So don't worry about that part then. For some reason, breeders are exempt from the badge rule. So you just need to find someone who has the Fly HM who would be willing to lend it to you. [Which, if Apollo's on his way to Goldenrod, John would be more than willing to do.]

Yeah, it happens sometimes. There's a lot of size variation out there. Just like with people! But anyway, these are Goletts. And I guess technically they are like the Pokemon equivalent of a golem. Animated stone. Though man, according to the books they get pretty massive when they evolve. Over nine feet tall normally. I can only imagine how big yours will be if it's already taller than average...

That makes it easier then. [Quietly removes the idea to ask from Apollo's mind. He needs more reasons to go meet new people, rather than fly right past them. I'll let him get his own later.]

What do they turn into? [Alas, as much as I'd love to, there's no way I could justify it ending up at true giant robot size. XD]

An even bigger golem, apparently. I haven't actually seen one in person yet. Just pictures in books.

If I can get it to stay out of the ball by the time it's that big it might be hard for it to fit in the same places that I can.

Yeah...somehow I get the feeling they may have to wait outside the pokecenter. That or just...stoop very, very low.

Spearow probably won't fit through the entrance anymore. He's never liked being inside much, but it might be a problem when it rains if he can't take shelter.

[He doesn't know what Spearow's new form is called, so he'll just keep calling him "Spearow" until he finds out.]

Well you can always put him in his ball when it rains?

[Have a very vigorous head-shaking from Fearow.]

He's never been in a ball, and he doesn't want to ever be.

Oh... [A beat.] What about an overly large bird rain jacket?

[He fails to surpress a small smile because you have to admit...that is a pretty hysterical mental image.]

I don't think anyone would make something like that.
