Well... some Pokemon like battling each other. Kind of like... play-fighting, until the exhausted loser gives up. Sometimes when they battle enough times, they can evolve and turn into different, bigger, stronger Pokemon. There are even special gyms in different towns that reward you badges if you win against their Pokemon.
