Even with the element of surprise, you only barely won; against a decent opponent I doubt you'd be so lucky. A team leader gives directions for the sake of the team and trusts the others to carry out their parts on their own; a team member needs to be able to trust those decisions are for the best even if they can't see the whole picture. Each person can focus on his own task without worrying about the others. And that's why all of you need more training.
