That's the "Fly" HM, right? If I have time before winter comes and the Pokémon with me want to I'll try and get it. I only needed the Rock Smash and Strength HMs. The Pokémon with me just wanted to challenge more gyms.
I'm a "Breeder" so I don't need to get another badge to use the HMs.
Other than getting the HMs the gyms aren't really useful, you're right.
