[The feed opens on Apollo sitting against a tree in Goldenrod, holding a shiny new Plain Badge and Rock Smash HM. A pile of empty Potion spray bottles is visible beside him at the edge of the frame. For someone doing a badge post he doesn't look that happy. He seems more worried than anything.]

I don't get why the badge is supposed to be the important part. The HM is more useful.

[He glances off-camera at something for a moment before looking back and getting to the reason he's making this post.]

Are all the gym battles this hard? Everyone fought really hard, but if that Miltank had lasted much longer they would have lost. They're all pretty tired after that battle, but even though it was really close this time they still want to try and beat the gym in Ecruteak City after this. I'm not sure anymore. If they can win here can they win at the Ecruteak City Gym?

If you don't win, you certainly try again later, anyway.

Well, I suppose it is more satisfying to overcome a gym challenge on your first try...

If they were in real danger of injury, I doubt they'd be as eager to battle as most of them are, really. Matches are probably more like sparring than a real "fight" of some sort.

There's always a chance something might go wrong whenever Ryner and I fly on Lofty and Gail somewhere, but we trust them to carry us safely, and if an unforeseen accident happens, nothing could have prevented it anyway. Certainly we don't let fear of "something" happen stop us from exploring or doing things, and I think our pokemon feel the same way.

If they didn't enjoy their manner of battling, I doubt it'd be possible to force them to, anyway.

And if they did, they'd have only themselves to blame if their own partners turned on them for it.

Most likely. But on the other hand, in a way, wouldn't it also be cruel to prevent your pokemon from challenging themselves and taking calculated risks when they wish to?

*could kind of guess that from his earlier comments, though isn't about to turn this into a lecture or anything*

Of course, sometimes it's necessary to keep some of them from doing something stupid.... but on the other hand, sometimes some will only learn the hard way, it seems.

Well, ideally it's best to be able to learn some things by learning from others' experience, but when all else fails, first hand experience is usually quite effective.

In any case, you may just have to try challenging the gym and seeing for yourself how well your team fares.

*nods*

That's certainly a possibility, as well.
