[Video / Action for Lake of Rage]

[54 Combee eggs. That's what this video opens on. Someone who's been to the Lake of Rage before might recognize them as being in the cheapest cabin in the resort, but they fill so much of the shot that it's hard to see anything else besides the eggs and the Vespiquen and Combee who are responsible for filling up Apollo's PC box nearly to capacity over the last several months.

Apollo's voice comes from behind the camera.]

Vespiquen and Combee have been getting ready to start a hive for a while now, so they've been laying eggs and having me keep them in the PC. Vespiquen decided that they had enough eggs now, so she's going to let them hatch. She wanted to show them to everyone first though.

[Vespiquen speaks up in pokéspeak.]

With my trainer's assistance I have amassed a vast starting population for my future domain! Surely no other Vespiquen in history has presided over so many children at their hive's inception! I doubt that any of you watching this will have their offspring turn out even remotely as impressive as mine!

[Apollo isn't going to bother translating that for the non-Pokémon who are watching. Vespiquen doesn't need her ego stroked. A question occurs to him though, one that he had assumed the answer to already but hadn't actually asked yet.]

These eggs are all going to hatch at around the same time, right?

They will.

I should make sure that they all have food waiting for them then. You two are going to be busy.

[ Sticking a finger in her ear. ]

The bzzt-bzzt.

[He has absolutely no idea what Morgiana is talking about now.]

[chainred]

Their wings?

[ Only someone who's sensitive to sounds would make a big deal out of this, but Morgiana doesn't realize how silly it is to ordinary people. ]

It'll be noisy.

[Now he gets what she means.]

Oh. Yeah, it might be, but they won't be staying here for long, so it shouldn't be a big problem.

[chainred]

Are you going to allow them to fly outside?

[ Tilting her head. ] That's what they want?

Of course I will.

I'm going to release them all so that they can go off to start their own hive and won't have to come with me or stay in the PC when I'm not in a town.

[chainred]

You're allowed to do that?

[ Reluctantly: ] No one will scold you for giving up your Pokemon?

[ She tried once when she first showed up and was told by no less than five people to keep it with her. To give up this many at once seems like it would cause more people to be upset than her single one. ]

I had to ask Nurse Joy how to because it wasn't obvious how to do it, but yeah, you can. I don't know why anyone would scold me for letting them go when they want to.

[Better to seek forgiveness than ask permission. Or rather, just go do it; seeking forgiveness implies that you've done something wrong.]

[chainred]

Oh, well if they want to go... that makes it alright. You're only doing what's best for them.

[ Lowering her head. ] I wish I could have that gift. Sometimes it's lonelier not being able to understand those around me.

Mm. Even if you can't talk to them, you can still kind of understand how they're feeling by watching how they move and listening to their calls.

[chainred]

I've tried that.

[ Since she has trouble figuring out her own wants and emotions, it's natural she struggles with it when it comes to Pokemon. ]

Maybe it gets easier over time.

It probably does. I don't remember learning how to understand them. I can't remember a time that I didn't know.

Then I just need time. [ Simple enough. ]

People are here for a long time, aren't they?
